Transformative Experiences

Students discover how Northern California Native beads were made from clam shells and abalone, learn their cultural uses in basketry, fashion, and trade, and craft their own inspired take-home piece.

Through an encounter with a Culture Bearer or Storyteller, students explore Indigenous story, songs, native instruments, drumming, and dance demonstrations.

Classes engage in culinary exploration of Native foods through acorn processing or traditional fish smoking, with alternative options available for those with nut or fish allergies.

Participants observe Native weaving techniques, create their own mini tule duck, and enjoy playing Indigenous games on the Great Lawn.
