Families with young children may explore culture and nature through the Aay-Ko Indigenous Nature-Based Playgroup on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
The Aay-Ko Indigenous Nature-Based Playgroup is a groundbreaking initiative underwritten by First 5 Marin, designed to integrate Indigenous perspectives, cultural sensitivity and nature-based activities to promote the well-being of young children while respecting and celebrating their diverse cultural identities. *Parents must accompany their child(ren) at all times.
Each playgroup session includes: Indigenous Greeting + Welcoming Circle/Warm welcome in Coastal Miwok language, ABCs (2 letters of the alphabet each week), Cultural Games/Demonstrations/Hands-On Activity, Snack , Animal or Plant Study (TEK), Art Activity, Native StoryTime + Closing Circle, and Play/Movement.
